I'm enjoying your series on the Church in Finland. It makes me reflect on my own local Catholic community in south Louisiana. Every town has at least one Catholic church; my small town has three! But, we're Catholic, it seems, because, well, everyone's Catholic.

But what I'm reading about these Catholics in Finland is inspiring. It would be soo easy for people in a foreign, non-Catholic country to make excuses for not going to Mass or seek the Sacraments. However, not only are these people seeking out the opportunities, they're a sign to others of the Beauty and Truth of the Faith. They are a kind of sacrament themselves.

One of the things I remner from going on holiday to Finland some 35 years ago, is how empty the church I went to was (can't remember whether it was the Cathedral or not.) It didn't surprise me at the time because I had read that Catholics were just a very, VERY small minority.

So in Finland is happening the same is happening all over (western) Europe, they are being evangelised by people from Africa and Asia.
