Rather surprising candor from Kasper. I realize he probably is in disagreement with you often, so thank you for showing a different and unexpected facet of the man.
It's fairly crazy how, in 2014 after the publication of Amoris Laetitia, Cardinal Kasper was seen as one of the most liberal voices in the Church and now he is the one saying that the German Bishops synodal process has him "fairly worried" πππ Ed's final paragraph in that section sums it all up!
The thing I haven't seen anyone mention yet in regards to the Cardinal Marx affair, is how it seems to be a pointed jab by the German progressives at their opposition, namely, Cardinal Woelki. After he was accused only a few months ago of mishandling abuse cases, he refused the call of progressives for his resignation. This seems to be some sort of public optics routine to help the progressive bishops avoid charges of hypocrisy by opponents of the Church generally, and to "shame" Woelki for his actions.
"If Walter Kasper is telling you to look to America and Africa for inspiration, you really have to ask yourself: how far from the herd have you strayed?"
The above quip pretty much sums up how wayward the German bishops have gone...

π Thank you, Ed. This is all gold.
