"You can also expect that Rome would never have made the appointment if they didn’t already know the answer, so don’t expect any surprises there." Boy, you are spot on there. It so saddens me to see such lukewarmness and not be surprised. I love your reporting and format.

I once had the joy of being present to the bitter end of a ballgame between the mighty Red Sox and the less than mighty Os. It was April. It was cold. It was raining. Nomar was at his best and Manny was just being Manny. It was bliss. And it was long. 5-6 hours long.

Baseball isn’t supposed to be a fast game over in a couple of hours. Sometimes it takes hours. Sometimes it doesn’t. That’s baseball. Don’t mess with it to make it more palatable for people with short attention spans. That’s what basketball is for with its clocks and buzzers. Leave my game alone!

Doubleheaders are now only 7 innings.

Recently a pitcher threw a no-hitter.

I’m betting he would’ve like a chance at the 8th and 9th.

"....karma is a bitch." Love it! One of my favorite rejoinders on the rare occasion I get to use it (usually when I'm not wearing clerical garb).

So Cardinal Becciu had made your top of the list. In 2017, Becciu was involved in a complicated chain of events with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta that ended with the Grand Master of the Order being deposed, and Becciu being installed as special papal envoy charged with running the order. Who knows what he and Albrecht von Boeselager were up to during that time.

I’d come! I’d be so excited for that. I have thought it might be fun to go back and find some old games to watch ... but it’s not quite the same as watching a live game. 😏

I thought that under canon law the ordinary of a head if state is the Roman Pontiff. Wouldn't that also apply to President Biden a long as he is in the highest office?
