Bishop Stephen Chow has elaborated on his call for Catholics “to love our country and our Church at the same time,” and the problems and limits that entails for Chinese Catholics.
Wow, this is a really fantastic statement. It's easy to forget that systems and governments aren't independent creatures, they're just a collection of people. And people can be converted. Indeed, we must hope for and work towards their conversion. Let's pray that his approach bears fruit.

The thing I fear is that, in spite of the high hopes and good intentions of Bishop Chow:
The Church: "dialogue with the Chinese State is not about kowtowing"
The Chinese State: "dialogue with the Church is about getting them to kowtow"
