I'm struck by the comment section in the newsletters this week. Often in the social media sphere (Facebook, Twitter, Reddit) comments will roll in about people praying for one cause or another. Here in the Pillar comment boxes you get the sense that people are actually doing so. This isn't a large community that has been built, so far, but there is a real sense that it is a faithful one. I find myself praying for other Pillar subscribers: for their petitions, thanking God for the joy and wisdom they share, and for the grace that charity remain in our interactions. It is very easy for me to say that I will pray for someone, and then neglect to do so during times of prayerful reflection. I am a sinner. My prayers certainly don't have the efficaciousness of those far more righteous than I, but I do hope that the Lord hears them for the grace and healing needed by others.

JD, I doubt that I will ever meet you or any of the Pillar subscribers not already known to me out "in the world." I am not liable to have any travel plans to Baltimore, DC, Louisville, or any other location where a Pillar gathering is convened. Getting to know my fellow subscribers and the Pillar team here, while avoiding the black hole of online parasocial relationships, is still a joy. Thank you and Ed for the Pillar.

With that in mind, please know that I AM praying for you, Max, and the rest of your family. I hope that those who have been troubling you for the news that you break can see the faithfulness that our little community here is formenting and begin to interact with greater charity. (Matthew 7:15-20)
