I was hoping Archbishop McKnight would say something. He did not disapoint. He really should've been the one to get Washington (thanks Trump!!). Hopefully Bishop Pillar-readrs (in a good way) see this article tonight & raise these issues tomorrow.
I hope the bishops take Archbishop McKnight's words to heart and support postponing a vote on this. Bishop Knestout's comments seem quite tone deaf given everything that's happened in the last couple decades; and how has it taken 5 years to get these fairly minimal revisions?
Even by reading/studying The Pillar’s great cross- comparison published earlier today, many of Archbishop McKnight’s concerns jump out to lay people who are not privy to closed deliberations and secrecy of the USCCB. How can so many bishops be so oblivious to what jumps out to a casual reader/comparer?
Bravo again to The Pillar for Herculean efforts for real transparency.
In the end, the best solution is for individual bishops in their diocese to start implementing this stuff on their own accord, and if necessary frag everyone else kicking and screaming to the right answer, if by nothing else than shaming people into action so they dont lose the credit.
But I think even the good bishops have long forgotten they have real power in their diocese.

He will in a few years.
