My family has always kept the Christmas decorations up from Christmas Eve through to Candlemas. There's a quote attributed to Chesterton passing around the internet (though I cannot at this moment find if it is actually by him) that says "the best way to shorten winter is to prolong Christmas". Wish I could find if it was actually a quote of his... there are a lot of misattributions to him, especially in this "age of AI".
I thought the same thing as JD and was kinda surprised he didn't stop the ad right there and ask what the heck is a "hosie." Not convinced it's a real thing, either.
I take my Christmas lights down after the Epiphany to ensure that they continue to function. I have enough trouble keeping them working through the season for one reason: squirrels.
Clearly JD doesn't have a squirrel problem.
Their black little hearts drive them to destroy my Christmas decorations. The devil himself drives them to destroy. Show me the man who doesn't take down his Christmas lights and I'll show you a house where only 1/4 of the lights function when plugged in the next year.
