I've been listening to Fulton Sheen lately with news of his beatification coming up. I think we need to take his lead and make open contempt and criticism of communism popular in the West again. Granted, not many of us can do it as well as Sheen did but we can all do our part.

“Ultimately as Catholics, what we want is, what we seek is salvation, not power.” I’ll sit with that the rest of the night. Thank you for this interview!

I'll be here waiting for Cardinal Chow to denounce this injustice.

Jimmy Lai is a hero of the faith alongside Cardinal Zen. Thank you for reporting on him. His name should be a be known in every Catholic household.

An article on this heroic Catholic man who is also a champion of democracy and freedom, receives 4 comments (excluding this one), some 18 hours after the posting of the news of his 20 year sentence.

After all, the importance of news of international import *is* directly proportional to whether I have anything from my own opinions and experience to add to it; and more importantly, whether I make sure everyone else knows I have those opinions :)

Often the relationship is inversely proportional. See: the now-infamous "Yeti blood oath" article.

Speaking for myself, I haven't commented because there's nothing else to say other than to agree this is abject evil, as is reading comments by the propagandized across the ocean arguing this was justified.

I have been praying for Jimmy Lai for some time. I pray that the Lord is making Himself known to Jimmy in comfort. I was alarmed to see how much he has aged in the last 5 years. Please pray for him!
