Love Pope Francis's bit on M-i-L's. Talk about a counter-cultural message!

Cardinal Joseph Mindszenty's quote is lovely, but it's wrong on so many levels. Motherhood is hard and is more important than most of our world realizes - as a mother myself I will affirm that wholeheartedly. But in many Catholic circles, motherhood is treated as a status symbol, and that's wrong. Women who are unable to become biological mothers for whatever reason are not less important. Men are not less important. Most glaringly, it's sanctity, not biological motherhood, that brings us close to God and makes us glorious in God's eyes.

I don't mean to be a curmudgeon about this, but I have seen so many Catholic women damaged by the ideas encapsulated in this quotation.
