Thank you for continuing this investigation. These financial records most likely will reveal whom else McCarrick has influenced, not only in terms of personal scandal, but also influencing the real impetus over changes in the church over these past two decades. Those whom he helped put in place should also resign

Thank you for continuing to follow this sordid story. Did The Pillar specifically ask the AG's office if there were any statutory or judicially imposed restrictions that limit/prohibit Newark and/or Metuchen from releasing said records? This should be a simple matter of providing a citation from the law or a related judicial order. And in the absence of either of these legal justifications, Tobin should be pressed for an answer. I suspect that the real answer is that diocesan legal counsel has advised against it because it will make all involved look bad. Sadly, bad news does not get better with age and there has been NOTHING but bad news associated with Mr. McCarrick and his enablers--including Cardinal Tobin.
