I'm anxiously waiting for Ed and JD to write the screenplay for the Netflix movie version of these stories.

Is Pell's full statement available anywhere?

It's absurd to think that a .catholic domain purchase would be considered "high, demanding, and certainly confidential." The Vatican buying the .catholic domain seems neither high nor demanding. It's shouldn't even be confidential, today, four years after the payments were made. I'd think the transfer should be a fait accompli by now and no great state secret. There must be a techie somewhere who could look up the .catholic domain registrations, ownership, timing, and so on.

I wish someone could hire PwC back and have them finish their audit. Becciu got in the way before, but now he's removed, and so I'd think it should be able to continue.

Cardinal Pell is correct to be concerned about the story - this doesn't feel right. Yes, domain names are often sold for periods of 12 months, 3 year or 5 years. But if you buy a 3 year period it would be expected that you would then re-register for 3 years or 5 years, not have an annual renewal unless you were migrating away from the the domain. Since there was precious little put up in the first 3 years, it wouldn't have taken so long to move from it.

There is something more to this story.
