There is no doubt that the New World Order is using immigration to transform the Western World. After WWII, there was the Marshall Plan to transform Europe and save it from Communism. The same should be done for South America and keep the migrants at home.---Staples of the NWO are abortion and homosexuality. The Spanish conquistadors transformed South America into a Catholic land mass. Now, heaven help us, we have a South American pontiff who is encouraging immigration to transform the globe into the setting for a new one world religion.

As someone who grew up participating in pro-life marches and other activities, the overturning of Roe & Casey is truly surreal... and a beautiful, historic moment that if wish my late parents were here to see. I've been a pro-lifer voter as long as I've been voting. If the contest was between a self-described pro-choice candidate and a self-described pro-life candidate, I voted to the latter without exception. In the mid-2000s, a narrative formed among some Catholics that voting the way I did was stupid. According to that narrative, "pro-life" politicians were con artists, few if any of whom had any intention whatsoever about doing anything to move the needle on abortion and were just tricking rubes like me into voting for them. On that basis, a Catholic could in good conscience vote for the pro-choice candidate because in reality there was no true difference between the two on the abortion issue -- they were the same but the "pro-life" candidate was lying. I never bought that narrative. Not to say that there weren't some erstwhile "Planned Parenthood Republicans" (cough, Bushes, cough) whose hearts may not have ever really been with us on the issue, BUT if it's a choice between a self-described "pro life" candidate who *might* do something to help the pro-life cause, and a self-described "pro choice" candidate who's explicitly promising to hurt the pro-life cause, I'd be insane as pro-lifer to prefer the latter.

Thank you Very insightful—- that meaning/fulfillment is right in their soul— if the scales would only fall from their eyes and the fog be lifted from their minds— they would find that meaning/fulfillment with every beat of their heart. I am hopeful that these young people will find the peace that Jesus can offer them. Lord please give us the grace to share your message of love, life, and peace to those that are deaf, blind, and ignorant from sin. Blessed Mary Ever Virgin pray for us!! Too bad Dobbs did not recognize the unconstitutional nature of abortion.

"There was concern as the decision was released that it might lead to acts of vandalism or desecration of Catholic churches and other pro-life spaces across the country. In fact, not much of that has happened."

I guess you mean, we're comfortably settled in the increased violence since the draft opinion was released.

As indicated by your June 13 citation from the USCCB:

“Since the leak of the draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, charities that support pregnant mothers in need have been firebombed, and pro-life organizations have been attacked almost daily and terrorized, and even the lives of Supreme Court justices have been directly threatened."

And of course there's been more since then, including after the actual ruling was released. The New Normal isn't good news.

I do appreciate your reporting.

The part that was supposed to be bishop comments just went back to the article on safety precautions.

"It was striking, I thought, to listen to the crowd chant passionately: “This is what community looks like” — organized even around the prospect of baby-killing, there was a near desperate expression of the desire to be a part of something more meaningful and fulfilling than material and media consumption."

Yes, the isolation of nihilism, of choosing power over love, of denying the personhood of all human beings. Their community must be based on hatred because their position denies the possibility of love, leaving them isolated in their own hell.

Good discussion. We can build communities in our domestic churches and in our work place. A Zelenskyyhere and there, one man, makes a big difference. Just like adding salt to steak. It is 99.9% beef but the salt makes all the difference. Be salt. But " vexing problem of access to affordable healthcare". Really?

Our pastor at St Joseph’s hired police to keep watch over the church and people as we arrive and leave Mass as well as locking the door right before Mass starts. This will go on for several weeks or as long as needed.

I had already taken the time to print out and learn to chant the Te Deum after reading "The Shadow of His Wings" (having already read "To Quell the Terror") on the grounds that a person should be prepared for dramatic moments where it is evidently called for, and for which one has not been fully prepared by an upbringing in the vernacular; I brought the printout along to my sidewalk shift on Saturday because I do not think I have all of it from memory yet in front of a very mixed audience, but yes I did literally chant the Te Deum in front of PP the day after the verdict because I am that kind of nerd.

"And if you’re going to sing the Te deum, it really ought to be Mozart’s composition."

Certainly true for listening, but remember, we're talking Catholics here! In most parishes it would take Divine intervention of a high order for that to work out well.

I just read as far through JD’s Twitter feed as it would let me without my joining Twitter. The only charitable observation I can make is that at least there were protesters there that were smart enough to know that the after-protest protest is always the cooler protest.

JD, I almost skimmed past your piece on the Colorado protest but I am glad I didn't. The dis-affection is something which shocks me. There is much to be learned from that including your insight at the end about evangelization. One thing I would add is that the political disaffection means there is wide potential for someone to grab the civic wheel that is spinning wildly from Obama to Trump to Biden and steer resolutely in a better direction.. Trump probably recognized this disaffection on the right before most of us did, but hopefully we can do better than that going forward.

Can a state ban abortion but allow fertility treatments that depend on the production and later destruction of surplus embryos? If so it seems to be inconsistent enough to provide grounds for a court challenge.

The fertility industry could stop producing these embryos but millions of human beings kept in frozen storage are at risk.
