Another Jack Figge grand slam right out of the park! God bless Eddie Cotter. And thank God the "Kumbaya" era of youth ministry has given way to the Dead Theologians' Society.
Cliffhanger under “now that’s a story”- “Eddie is actually…”
Great story! I’m especially impressed that he took a vow of temperance as a teenager and played in a rock-and-roll band; proof that you can live an amazing, full, Catholic life without alcohol.
Great piece! I havent forgotten Eddie from when I met him in his WI days. What a gift to hear a beautiful example of what God can do when we cooperate with Him.
This is a delightful and encouraging story about a life well lived. Eddie isn't much younger than me, so we grew up in the same era. And, I served in ministry to youth for many years. This article touches upon several valuable points. One key point is that social media and celebrity can never take the place of personal relationships. As elsewhere, our parish has many young adults, maybe surprisingly, more young men than young women, coming into the Church. People seek authenticity, real personal relationships, reverence, meaning, purpose and God, Who loves and created them. May God grant Eddie, Katie and others like them many years!
My heart is so full after reading this article. This world needs more Eddie Cotter’s! An inspiration to us all to live a truly authentic Catholic life. Thank you for this! ❤️
Wow, truly an inspiration and a life being well-lived! Shows we can each bear witness in a way unique to each of us.
Now this is what we need more of! This guy is a living breathing saint among us.

He’s an AOH member and a Pioneer? He truly is the old breed of Irish-American Catholic. Fewer all the time, sadly.
There are not enough ❤️'s I can give this article! Give Jack a raise or he'll end up at The Atlantic!
Right? I can't even say this is what I subscribe for because is this is so far over and beyond my expectations
(or a presbyterate) :D
Great article, Jack! Thank you. Eddie's example shows the best way to spread the faith, by friendship, just like the first Christians.
Maybe one of my favorite things I’ve ever read on The Pillar. God is good.
I see Jack's December assignment has been ongoing

Did people in Ohio say “Welcome back, Cotter”?

Wonderful article !! Just wow.
Came for the title, stayed for the story: another Jack Figge hole-in-one. So glad I read this instead of ::gulp:: the news before going to bed!
I did enjoy the profile. (I take it that Chris Stefanick is a famous 'Catholic Inc' person?)
He does Real Life Catholic and lots of talks in various places for the Church.
