This is insane. And anyone who has paid attention to religion and politics over the past 75 years knows where this is headed. A very vocal minority will hijack the synodal process and push for women deacons and/or priests, homosexual marriage, etc. And then we’ll be told about the pastoral exigencies that require changes to reflect the new “sensus fidelium,” even though the “sensus” does not come from the “fidelium.”

As someone who has fifteen aunts and uncles who were raised catholic, two of whom still practice the faith, and who was raised In the Episcopal church but converted after coming of age and realizing how bereft it was of any kind of theological coherence, this is truly frightening. It makes me feel physically ill to see the Church try to import a model that is not only counter to its own teaching and tradition, but which has destroyed the other churches in which it has been employed. Unless bishops and priests with spines stand up to this nonsense, it will destroy what’s left of the Church.

“people of other faith traditions, [and] people of no religious belief” have an important role to help the Church “participate fully in the act of discerning.”

Translated for clarity: "Catholics will now formally submit to secularism"
