This is the same Pope who, early in his papacy, warned Catholics not to breed like rabbits, right?

If I had a dollar for every childless "dog mom" or "dog dad" in San Francisco, well, I'd have several hundred thousand dollars. It speaks volumes, though, that CNN would describe the Holy Father's rather commonsensical remarks as “surprising coming from a progressive pontiff.” Not unreasonably, they perceive Pope Francis as fully aligned with elite media opinion on the full spectrum of social, cultural & political issues (LGBT, climate, migrants, etc.), so when he deviates from the party line and says something Catholic and vaguely conservative, they're disoriented.

"Hell is other people" - we are all familiar with this aphorism. I find personally more applicable the expression, "Christ is other people", said by none other than our Mr. Condon in one of the The Pillar Podcast episodes of yesteryear. I first heard this expression while on pilgrimage, and it deeply convicted me. "In every interaction, someone is Christ" - and by extension, the other person is one who needs Christ "been" to them. This is something I try to reflect on every morning, and to resolve to _be_ Christ to others, rather than needing them to _be_ Christ to me. I deeply appreciate Mr. Condon's reflections on the teachings of Christ and the Church.
