The depths of the criticism I saw on Twitter towards the lineup of speakers that this piece spawned was really something. The funny thing is that the people criticizing this speaker lineup can't really make a coherent point about what is wrong with it, other than vague generalizations that the speakers aren't "pro-Francis" enough, or too "right-wing", or whatever. You know these commentators have really gone off the deep end if they're considering Fr. Mike or Bishop Barron to be right-wing radicals.
"This means, directly, that the pope has told Archbishop Vasil’ to sort out the fight — which is so profound that it’s led to vandalism of a sanctuary, the disruption of liturgies, a locked cathedral, and a cardinal burned in effigy.
It won’t be easy. In fact, I can’t see how Archbishop Vasil’ has much path toward success — especially since the men has already dispatched to solve the problem have failed."
The Ernakulam-Angamaly archeparchy is getting very close to their own Matthew 21:33-46 moment.
Podcast was great. And while I think JD’s grab if several cardinals to keep them busy was hilarious, it might have been too cute by half. The conversion of souls is an offensive game and I think Ed’s advisors will have more of an impact than JD’s addition by subtraction.
We have been blessed and our parish re-invigorated by the presence of the Sisters of Life in our convent house and by having the motherhouse in our local community. There is nothing like having rows and rows of professed religious women at mass to restore your faith in the future of the Church!
May Sister Mercy's final vows be a momentous occasion for your family friend as well as the blessings she has bestowed upon you and your family thru the years 🙏 😊 ❤️ 😀 as she has chosen "the better part" as our good Lord Jesus would say about anyone blessed to "sit at his feet"
Instead of issuing carbon footprint calculators how about a clicker to keep count of the number of times a sinful temptation entered one's mind?
I hate to be *that* guy, but why am I not surprised to see MSW is the author of the NCR piece?

First, I’m so glad to be off Twitter.
Secondly, I not surprised to see that people are having difficulty “pinning down” criticism directed towards people they don’t like.
My life got a lot less anxious when I quit. Turns out removing sources of impotent rage is a good thing.
Why bother drawing attention to the IHO (Infinitely Heterodox One).
Great stuff, JD. And a Hail Mary for Sr. Mercy. Happy Tuesday, all.

Archbishop Cyril Vasil, S.J., is a Slovak not a Slovenian. Two distinct and different countries.
Thanks. Corrected.

So happy for Sr Mercy's vocation and to see the beautiful picture. Prayers for sure! God bless.
I’m unable to open any links in the Pillar email. The page states that the “server cannot be found.”

The one thing Portugal does not lack is trees. The North is one endless forest.
I hope that they remember to to give honor to the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost in Portugal.
