I will never not giggle at the phrase "Pillar reader in a good way"

Ok JD, I haven't seen Oppenheimer yet, but your review picked out something that my friends have also said: the substance is thin, but the style is thick. That is, that Nolan uses the cinematic craft as a stand-in for content. I totally buy this. Memento was pseudo-intellectual charlatanism, just for that reason. I actually found the Batman movies and Dunkirk far more watchable because the characters/people had some level of substance, but it was far more the way the movies were shot that created a sense of gravitas. Your complaint about 'what time is it', well it is middlebrow . . ., but maybe it was just the Mai Tais? So, you get a pass! The rest of your review fits with what I've heard others say. Thanks for the 'normie' review!
