So could the priest unofficially publish something like "no money needed for the mass, but you can Venmo me money to help me with my living expenses?" Worded differently, but then the money isn't "for the mass" but rather just a nice donation to the priest?

But seriously—this does smell fishy to outsiders I’m sure. “I have to pay a priest to say a mass??” If only we had a strong Catholic base to financially support the church, priests and bishops. Which would encourage more priests. Which would grow the strong Catholic base…
