Pope Francis is a healer. He humbly asked forgiveness for sins of the past and showed reverence for those who needed to hear his words. His own need for healing did not get in the way of following Jesus command to ask for forgiveness. May his spirit live forever!

I have not seen anything so ridiculous in a long time. Sure, what the Canadian government did to its indigenous people was unconscionable. And maybe the Canadian Catholic church was complicit. But why is the Pope "apologizing" for something in which no one outside Canada had a part? Shouldn't the Canadians be apologizing?

Of course this calls into question the whole act of apologizing for what someone else did, an act which I fail to understand.

The pope’s gesture seems not dissimilar to the Obama apology tour early in his presidency. While it may seem the essence of humility, it’s actually the contrition equivalent of the #humblebrag hashtag. There’s a kind of hubris in presuming to repent of someone else’s sins. Especially when you don’t seem especially informed about what actually happened.

I miss the pastoral visits of St JPII. This liberal pope has his ways and priorities. He should step down asap before causing more damage to holy mother Church.
