I often get lost in the long explanations of what is going on in the Church but I loved the Advent sermon of John Henry Newman and that was an excellent way to end the post. We certainly make a mess of Christ's Church, so it is very good to remember that He WILL come again and save us from what we have done. THE BEST that has come out of The Pillar of late is that adorable picture of Miss Mary Condon. What a beautiful little girl. I hope the subscribers are treated to more pictures of her in the future.

A wonderfully edifying reflection on 'watching for Christ'. It reminds us that Christmas is a great time to live the coming of Christ vicariously through those characters that came to Him then. The wise men. The shepherds and the Jews who recognised Him in their time. Buon Natale to all.

This Pope has never had a kind or encouraging word for those who take their faith seriously. He bashes "rigid Catholics" as "Pharisees", "Pelagians", and "inspectors of other people's lives". He bashes "rigid priests" as "little monsters who give me the creeps". He has said that people who like the Latin Mass are "safeguarding ashes". But never a word of criticism of the horrible variety-show liturgies and other manifestations of the fake news called "renewal" that we've been subjected to in all aspects of Church life since the nutty 1960s.

Thank you for the Advent sermon from St. John Henry Newman, it is exactly what I needed to read today. May our Lord give you strength to continue your great mission with the Pillar. I'm exhausted and very close to despair but I am strengthened by the sermon and pray for the strength to do God's will.

I came to write a comment and see that emba02 has written exactly what was in my heart. Thank you. I intend to print this and read it throughout the remainder of Advent.
