An amazing job of reporting! The unfortunate victims are the tens of thousands of the world’s poor who will not receive aid that donors intended them to receive.

For me, the saddest part of this saga is that at one point the Vatican tried to strongarm a London pastor into selling his rectory so that they could build the required-by-law affordable housing to offset the luxury apartments they were trying to build at 60 Sloane Ave. That anecdote told me that it was all just about making a buck and not in any way trying to serve the Church or her mission. And also that at least some in the Vatican were pretty involved - this wasn't some sort of passive investment on their part that they got stuck in. Although I have to add that as an accountant, I am very fascinated by the minute details of all the transactional craziness that went on. So thank you very much for all your continued digging.

Thank you for this timeline. I know I'm not one of the three persons whose interest Ed. stipulated as necessary to compel him to write a book about this scandal, but I'd purchase & read such a book.

This guy had the negatives . . .
