I have no doubt that much, if not all, of the work these USCCB and CRS staffers did was good. They are victims of the current politics, I suppose. But we, as the Church, set ourselves up for this when we partner with politicians and government so that half our employees are essentially dependent upon government funding (in these two organizations, specifically). And how does that potentially compromise our values? This is a sad situation, but I also think it is somewhat self-inflicted.
