Why don't more religious orders accept people with disabilities? Are people with disabilities presumed not to have a religious vocation? Can they have a religious vocation? How has the Church's idea of religious life changed from, say, the middle ages when disabled children were sort of dropped off at the convent and ended up becoming great saints?

Jesus seemed to eschew any relationship to kingship or power and control in Scripture and yet the hierarchy of our church seems to promote it? We are co- disciples in Jesus’ world so I see no problem with co- governance. Change canon law. It appears archaic in many instances.

JD says "In short, Praedicate evangelium seems to have created differing sets of expectations among different groups: with the media reading the text to say one thing, while many theologians, canonists, and Churchmen understand it to say another. "

It's undoubtedly true that the media will interpret things in the most divisive way possible - regardless of which "side" they come down on. However, another distinction needs to be added to JD's statement. It will not be the media on one side and theologians, canonists and Churchmen on the other as if these represent two sides of an argument where these players will neatly fall. In fact, the media will derive much of its sensationalism by focusing in on the widely different views of the various theologians, canonists and Churchmen themselves.

Sometimes we make the media the focus of our ire when in fact the media is reflecting and exasperating of very real divisions.

And, more and more, this cooperation includes seeking God’s will together through common prayer.
