While I applaud the effort, reading this right after reading the article about the Pope's potential (likely?) involvement in the Principi case makes me less than enthusiastic that any meaningful progress will be made during this pontificate.

I could not agree with you more. It is crazy to read these stories next to each other.

Agreed. Whatever the outcome of the Principi case, the whiplash (intended or not by our fearless editorial team) created by the timing of the stories is real.

Thank God for Sean Patrick Cardinal O’Malley, a light in total ecclesiastical darkness.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him several times. He seems like a good man and pastor. I’m genuinely sad to see him retire, but I pray he has earned his eternal reward (though he be with us for many years to come)!

Are we supposed to be impressed by this nonsense? It’s been more than two decades since reports of clerical sexual abuse have been splashed across front pages of newspapers and websites. … Oh, a document! It’s so inspiring. I’m sure that multitudes will flock to receive baptism and enter the Church because of this.

How about if the Eminences drop their pretentious bureaucratic posturing and demand that priests adopt asceticism. No more fat, effeminate champions of wokeism, please. Saint John Vianney would be a good model.

Note: I comment from the ecclesiastical wasteland of northern New Jersey.

Lord help us. In a normal business setting, the abusers would have been forced out of the company after being found guilty.... Take note Rome!
