I am genuinely so baffled by Abp. Vigano. Nothing about him makes sense to me. For instance, why is he addressing letters to the United States about the Russia-Ukraine conflict?? He’s not American, nor does he have a job here anymore, right….? And this isn’t a US war. I know he was a nuncio here, but that was 5 years of his long tenure as a prelate, right? I mean based on a Wikipedia search he is an Italian by birth and Archbishop of Ulpiana. Why is he so invested in our politics? Stop the Steal??? Why is he involved in this stuff?? I… I just am so confused…

The whole Vigano situation is strange. He went from a basic Papal Nuncio to crazy conspiracy theorist over night. Unfortunately I think of him as just another crazy

I think you may have a skewed view of integralism (probably from interacting with horrible people on the internet). As a Christian and Catholic expression of political life, it would in and of itself exclude any authoritarian forms of government. Vigano and his ilk are not integralists by any stretch.

I'm confused what you mean in the second to last paragraph, "...the specter of political violence now haunts two of the political movements most associated with it." Are you saying that Trumpism and Russia are those two things? I see many integralists thinkers being skeptical or downright opposed to those movements. Pater Edmund (Editor of the Josias and populizer of integralism) has been outspoken in his opposition to Russia.

I truly hope that this is a breakpoint which gets people off the Vigano train. And maybe for a few, it will. But the numbers will be miniscule.

I have been unpleasantly surprised by the breadth and morally-repulsive nature of the excuse-making for Putin. When I pointed out to one Catholic lady that she was using analogies fit for spousal abuse, she readily agreed and delighted in the fact Ukraine was going to get "a good kicking."

That the people dying from her hero Putin's "kicking" included Ukrainian Catholics mattered less than nothing. Her hatred for the EU was all-consuming.

Such diseased hearts can only be cured by the Divine Physician. And that includes Vigano and those who rally to his arguments. There is nothing to be done through appeals to reason or compassion because what is coming from him is straight out of the abyss of hatred.

It would be good to read the letter of March 6 that Archbishop Vigano wrote for oneself. I did not see anything there of a grand vision of "Moscow as a third Rome". Maybe that was written elsewhere, nor did he address the seeming schism amongst Russian and Ukranian Orthodox views in recent years.

What he did was analyze and provide documentation of how this current crisis came about, and offer how a negotiated peace would be possible, views shared here at Substack by Glenn Greenwald and Aris Roussinos

To summarize his article. 1) Zelinsky has been groomed, like Trudeau in Canada, by the World Economic Forum with their "Reset" agenda. 2) The Soros funding (through U.S. based Liberty Institute) of the "Rose Revolution" in Georgia in 2008 (deposing an elected president) with Saashkavillii, supported by Sen McCain, who pushed for NATO expansion, with missiles and bases, the ideas pushed for by Bush/Cheney in 2004, and also Soros funding (through the Liberty Institute) of the "Maiden" or "Orange" revolution in Ukraine in 2014, replacing an elected president, Yanukovych, who was forging an independent path with the EU and Russia, replaced by Poroshenko. This "revolution" was pushed by Obama/Biden (and family of lobbyists for oligarchs who control gas deposits and pipelines in Ukraine)/Nuland (who just testified in front of Congress about "virology labs" in Ukraine), supposedly a more "democratic" government. Yet, since 2014, this government has proven, as Archbishop Vigano documents, simply to have been a tool of globalist elites who do not believe in national sovereignty, and are pushing us all to accept a social credit system, and break down family and religious traditions. Consider that the government of Ukraine since 2014 has left Ukraine to be the poorest country in Europe, despite some of the richest gas deposits in the world. Further, Vigano documents, the funding by USAID of "virology labs". Are these similar to Wuhan, and WEF and Bill Gates Foundation plans for pandemics? Added, Saashkavillii currently is on a Ukranian Security Council, further evidence of globalist manipulation of Georgia and Ukraine

3) Archbishop Vigano concludes with a negotiated peace proposal, what Putin has been saying at least since 2008, what others call the Finland Option: domestic sovereignty, forging a bridge path between the EU and Russia, which Germany was even doing with it's gas deals up until this conflict, and a neutral foreign policy, a path that has served Finland well since WWII, with freedom and modern development as a bordering neighbor of the Soviet Union/Russia

Ultimately, we need consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Our Lady of Fatima's Peace Plan From Heaven

I'm afraid that Abp. Vigano has gone from a brave voice speaking the truth in exile to being a pundit who compelled to make pronouncements about anything even obliquely touching on matters related to the Church. His opinion may be worth considering, but he is not a prophet. BTW, since the Pillar article does not contain a link to the March 6 letter, here is one place where it may be read: https://www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/abp-vigano-globalists-have-fomented-war-in-ukraine-to-establish-the-tyranny-of-the-new-world-order/

As has been noted by a few other commenters, I am curious about the definition of "Integralists" from your piece. I have had discussions with friends and "the Integralists" have been criticized, but when I pushed to learn who "they" were I received an honest, if unsatisfactory response - it was effectively being used as a catch-all term for anti-liberal, or pro-authoritarian, thought.

Who, besides Archbishop Vigano and (perhaps as indicated in other comments) Dr. Taylor Marshall, would fit into, or write in favor of, this position? I am interested in Catholic Integralism, but the (few) people I pay attention to haven't made any reference to Russia.

NB - I am not on Twitter, since I'm convinced it's bad for my soul. The few conversations I've had with friends regarding Integralism seem to have more to do with Twitter than anything else.

"Increasingly unhinged" seems an apt description to me. I paid a lot of attention to his first letter, some to the next few... at some point the guy "jumped the shark" as they say. The whole thing is a puzzle. I'm not sure what to make of it.

I have less than no respect for Abp Vigano. He’s an ecclesial Tucker Carlson.

Revanchist! I have been trying to remember this word, off and on, for a good six or seven months. Thank you for all the good work you do! Truly, The Pillar brings you reporting you won't find anywhere else.
