A number of religious orders take other vows besides poverty, chastity, and obedience. For example, the Brothers of the Christian Schools {AKA De La Salle Christian Brothers] take five vows. The other two are "Association for the service of the poor through education" and "Stability." The former was their primary vow when they first formed in the late 1600's in France. Today, they run over 50 Lasallian Catholic high schools in the U.S., along with 7 colleges/universities and some 30 other education-related ministries, with roughly 1,000 similar ministries around the world.
