If JD would eat keto bricks for three days for new subscribers, I bet we could convince them to bring pillar live shows in exchange for some new/upgraded subscribers
It could be a biddable item at the auctions he hosts! Somehow tie in to the silent auction, and he lets us know on here about it. Normal people at the auction would be confused...
And, with the grace of God, weāll have a Catholic President Vance or Rubio to carry on being an imperfect, though vast improvement to the anti-Catholic Democrat alternative.
And, by the way, what is the Holy See doing about that wicked Rupnik fellow? I presume that the wheels of justice continue slowly, slowly, to grind....
It is fascinating to me that the ecclesiastical courts can require so much time. I might understand if some case of little moment is being tried in e.g. Diocese N. in the deepest back country of the North American wilderness but in Rome itself, eh. One of these days maybe I'll read up on the procedures; I expect to find that the Internet, facsimile machines and secure messaging are foreign to them, and that witnesses are summoned by delivery by hand of manuscript orders and required to travel to Rome by horse-drawn carriage and ship. Et cetera. Am old now and this sort of scandal doesn't try my faith as it might have done fifty years ago; still.
You may be right, sure. My own direct experience of courts of law is limited to a car impoundment issue (had left it too long parked on the street? I don't really remember) in the small town where I had grown up. My lawyer, a friend, had words with his friend/ex-girlfriend, the lady judge, and (as I recall) that was that. :-)
You should see the pace of justice for dodgy British teachers. Darren Gandley was finally struck off in 2011 for offences committed between 2004 and 2006. I love his excuse - I have not heard any dodgy priests explain that they were helping young people with their sexuality.
No, this was not his first problem with young people. He had previously been dismissed from Reading School, one of the top state schools in the country, after being caught in bed with a pupil. That was in 2003.
So how on earth did he get the later job? I suspect that communications between the schools were less than 100% honest.
The grotesque delays in banning delinquent teachers are nothing new. I remember one very distinguished headmaster (principal) in Wales who was hauled up before one of these tribunals for giving a less than honest reference for an abusing teacher. By the time he appeared for judgement, years later, he had retired on a full index linked pension.
But it would be a bad idea in the summer. Which rules out April through October. Also the area famously handles winter storms...imperfectly...so December through February could be on the risky side.
Also the traffic has gotten far worse since the Summer Olympics, which had plenty of transit challenges back then.
1 million seems like quite a conservative estimate - my only experience with World Youth Day was in Krakow in 2016 and they said there was 3 million. Certainly felt like 3 million out in the field.
I feel if a WYD would be in the US it should be New Orleans. Idk why. Just seems to fit. Iām not even from there i just feel that it would be a great match. With a Papal Mass in the Superdome
How much of a factor in the selection process will it be that Atlanta will have a different archbishop by then, if not before the location is announced at WYD next year?
If you look at the hosting pattern since 2000, the venue has alternated between European and non-European cities, meaning that (if the pattern holds) Atlanta would be more likely to host WYD 2033
If it takes WYD coming to atlanta for us to get a pillar live show, so be it but Iām hoping Ed and JD can make their way south before then!!
Can we start making bids for Pillar Live Shows?

I vote Mobile!
If weāre in mobile, we can partake in one of my favorite pastimesā¦telling mobile folks that Mardi Gras was started in New Orleans. They lose it
We can pilgrimage to Joe Cainās grave. š
One would think he might prefer Chicago, especially if it's in the summer.
2030 has the advantage of being after Mr Trump has left office and (we hope) several years distant from the current war in Iran.

Why aim so low?
Well said.
And, by the way, what is the Holy See doing about that wicked Rupnik fellow? I presume that the wheels of justice continue slowly, slowly, to grind....
he's on trial now.
How many months has it been?
they selected judges in October. It's not unusual for a canonical trial to still be ongoing after that long.
the judicial selection took a long time, but the trial is seemingly proceeding apace.

Is it that different for secular courts? I always had the impression that all big trials take months, but I might be wrong.

2031. San Antonio. 800th Anniversary of St Anthony of Padua. Guaranteed no ālost and foundā sites will be necessary.
There are pluses to coming to Atlanta to be sure.

If WYD could survive Rio, I think Atlanta should be fine.
Traffic is a bear though, even on a normal day.
Fair point about Rio...I grew up far from here and am admittedly a whiner about the long hot Deep South summers.
I'm from NC and now live in PA. I'm more readily a whiner about the cold winters (and spring!)
I detest driving anywhere near Atlanta and would drive directly into its belly if WYD were held there.

I'm not sure. good question.
Would be awesome to show Atlanta (and the world) that 500K show up for World Cup, but >1million for WYD!

WYD is normally once in Europe and outside Europe. 2030 should be
