Keep an eye on Brennan. Very flaky episcopacy.

Has our Church always been this corrupt and we just didn't have The Pillar to bring it to our attention?

"This is no different than other organizations when there is new leadership.” Mmmmm, shouldn't it be different in the Church, though? It troubles me so much that we keep comparing the Church with "other organizations."

Looks like someone got bad advice about who to appoint as new Bishop of Brooklyn.

It’s important to note that there might be a massive conflict of interest if the “another New York diocese” is the Diocese of Rockville Centre (Long Island). Bishop Brennan, the current ordinary for Brooklyn, was a originally a priest of Rockville Centre, (he was ordained in 1989). Brennan was an auxiliary for RVC from 2012-2019 and also served as their vicar general.

Rockville Centre and Brooklyn share a lot in the life of the Church. Their seminarians study together. Their ongoing formation of priests is done together. It’s very common that priests from the other diocese give parish missions. RVC was formerly part of the Brooklyn diocese before they split the territory. In a way, they’re sister dioceses. There’s a lot of crossover even today.

For the sake of transparency, it should be made clear whether or not RVC is investigating.

I do not know the facts of this case. However, I've known Bishop Chappetto for many years. He is a good and holy man. It may be that a fair and complete examination of this matter will show that he erred in some way. We do not know that as yet. I do know that that conclusion will not change the fact that he is a good and holy man.
