Australian Catholics will never be satisfied unless Becciu reveals what reason there is for the multi million dollar transfers to Australia during the Cardinal Pell investigation and trial. If it's innocent and legitimate, he'd be a fool not to come clean now that he is not bound by any secrecy codes.

And if these people are found to be the brood of vipers they seem to be what can the Church really do with them? Maybe get a little money back? Will the Church send Moragna to a Camaldolese house and the Cardinal to the Carthusians? (If it could happen, God help those Communities).

If Francis is involved that will be a final straw for many regarding his papacy, he'll go down further in infamy. Maybe Martin V was wrong. According to Canon Law there is no recourse against "the First See".

This shouldn't be the mind of the Church since Paul rebuked Peter to his face.

recourse is with regard to legal appeals against decisions. St. Paul wasn't making a legal appeal to an authority beyond St. Peter, he was simply reminding him that his actions needed to be consistent with his teaching. a far cry from Taylor Marshall calling upon Cardinal Burke to initiate a process to formally declare Pope Francis a heretic and depose him.

I am not calling Francis a heretic and I have nothing (and want nothing) to do with Taylor Marshall. I was simply saying that there is nothing that can be done if the pope is involved.

good. I just wanted to make the point that the episode you mentioned doesn't actually contradict the legal principle at play- though there are historical episodes that did, like Constantinople II and Vigilius.

Some religious orders used to have prisons for members of their community who couldn't handle the lifestyle after a while. Perhaps one of those . . .
