Regardless of what Cipriani's accused of, the sheer number of high ranking officials that get to step down for "health reasons" or go on with their normal lives is distressing. Is the hierarchy so afraid of bad press or are they scratching each other's backs? Whatever happened to justice? (Maybe they don't really believe in it)

Despite the usual blowback from secular sources, I think most Catholics would appreciate seeing our leaders being held accountable for once.

What are the specific allegations against Cardinal Cipriani? We know what Father Rupnik, former Cardinal McCarrick, and Cardinal Riccard are accused off, but not Cardinal Cipriani. Therefore, the Pillar should find out those facts before having repeat articles about it, even if Cardinal Cippriani may have lied about a document informing him of Vatican restrictions, not a document informing him of what he had been accused of. I went to confession yesterday and I said I lied once. Yet I have never abused anyone. Not the same category of sin and not a good reason for another article putting more suspicion on Cardinal Cipriani.

If I was told about a punishment without knowing exactly what the punishment is for, I would not obey the terms of such a punishment. In my view Cardinal Cipriani should perform whatever ministry he wants to until Pope Francis has the decency to give him all the documents pertaining to the allegations and a court date where guilt and innocence will be determined.

Otherwise, it sounds like a personal vendetta by Pope Francis against an orthodox and excellent Peruvian Cardinal who consistently opposed the heterodox ideas of Cardinal Bergoglio in the Council of Latin American Bishops.
