I was calling out to you, “I know! I know!”

Bishops of -

San Angelo: Bishop Mike Sis

Amarillo: Bishop Patrick Zurek

Austin: Bishop Joe Vasquez

Disclaimer: I grew up in East Texas, when it was still part of the Diocese of Dallas. I now live in College Station, TX, in the Diocese of Austin. Bishop Mike Sis is from Bryan, our sister city. His selection as bishop was big news here, especially for another local priest, David Konderla, subsequently selected as Bishop of Tulsa. And, one of my parish’s buildings is Zurek Hall, named for our first pastor, now the Bishop of Amarillo.

Thanks always for “great Catholic conversation.”

The banter between the two of you is hilarious. Sports club clothing to eye health to Tyler Trivia...thanks for a bright break in the day.

I thought this was an excellent discussion. Kudos.

Also, I can only imagine how much JD made himself laugh inside by saying Stikaville.

I am completely with you in thinking "At least Bishop Strickland is speaking out on important issues." Otherwise there seems to be a lot of SILENCE and lack of leadership on the part of bishops and cardinals. He fills a vacuum of leadership.

On the other hand some of what he says, even though I am sympathetic to his views, is not measured and thoughtful enough to be worthy of a bishop. Tweeting off handed comments on important topics, is a bad idea in general.

There are some priests, popular on the internet, who have been censured by their bishops but are still gaining viewers, and dollars. I think a lot of people are unaware of this, and are mislead by them. Could you do a story on how we can navigate this minefield pf opinion of what makes a "faithful" Catholic?

Thanks for the great reporting you provide!

Found this to be very levelheaded and fair. I will happily say I favor Bishop Strickland more than I disfavor him, and part of it is exactly what you said: there are not many other people publicly speaking out on serious concerns laypeople have with certain things in the world and in the Vatican. I do think he could be more temperate, and I have also heard some of the diocesan concerns are valid, but this just looks like a personal vendetta by a certain faction within the church, and that certainly makes this whole thing seems illegitimate to a lot of others I have spoken to. Great job as always.
