Very very difficult to listen to Ed, who should surely know better, repeatedly use the term "batter" instead of "batsman".

Sadly, even veteran cricket commentators now use the term "batter" in place of "batsman", apparently to be inclusive of women cricketers, even when commentating on men's matches. The world as we know it is coming to an end.

I suspect that what the Church means by "Primate of Italy" is not Italy, the sometimes literally Fascist nation-state, but Italy, the boot-shaped peninsula.

When I heard cricket trivia, I was waiting for JD to throw Ed off by asking questions about insects.

You can ask the library to request a book they don't have for you to read.

There may be more cricket fans around the USA than you might suspect. During my time working in Detroit I spotted a Jaguar in British Racing Green whose registration plate included the letters LBW. This might have stood for something other than Leg Before Wicket, but I doubt it.

If Marko Rupnik's name is on the list due to a "clerical" error, is there any word on whether that cleric was deacon, priest, or bishop?

(You are correct to assume that this is an attempt to be cute, not a serious question.)

Sorry Ed, normally you and I are on the same wavelength and I typically side with you over JD, but I've got to come out hard against your library stance. Especially since, as you point out, physical media is becoming the domain of the rich alone, libraries are a necessity in facilitating opportunities for the poor to obtain the intellectual riches that would otherwise be denied to them. I grew up poor and our library opened worlds to me, both fiction and non-fiction, that sparked my curiosity and wonder and fueled my drive for learning. My parents bought some books but could never have kept up with my voracious reading. I am now a highly trained professional with over 8 years of post-high school schooling and multiple degrees.

I will never not approve any library bond or millage proposed, especially for my local library that I benefitted from so much.

The Orthodox hierarchy was pretty openly critical of Fiducia Supplicans and Pope Francis' hand therein. Could Francis' restoration of "Patriarch of the West" be another one of his petty acts of revenge, like taking Cdl. Burke's residence?
