The Katholische Junge Gemeinde voted to retain St. Thomas as its patron despite 'his rigid adherence to Church structures.'
I think St Thomas More should withdraw HIS patronage of the group!

"Say what you want about the tenets of St Thomas More, dude, at least he's canonized..."
That got a legit chuckle from this Coen Brothers fan. Well done.
Sounds like the "problematic" aspects they identified of St. Thomas More are indeed his most wholesome and Christlike qualities.
Glad to see Eye of the Tiber is back up and posting!
I'm curious about how this group chose St. Thomas More as their patron saint in the first place; how on earth did they know so little about him?
The group was founded 50 years ago, likely by people who were not bothered by Catholic saints

How uninformed were these people if it took a trip to England for them to learn about More? Do they not read books? As in actual scholarly books, not whatever pop culture is throwing up lately?
I'm pretty convinced Luke wrote this piece just so he could put "nicer Dude!" into print.
