I'm not kidding when I say that the Pillar podcast is a major part of my motivation to remain a subscriber and keep you all in business. Between the Starting Seven, the two weekly newsletters, and the podcast (my favorite--and Catholic mom friends of mine agree with me that it is required weekly listening), I get everything I need to understand what's happening in the life of the Church.

Hearing your and Ed's takes on the podcast--still balanced and fair, but with your personal feelings included, too--helps me sort through which issues are serious or not, no matter my personal level of familiarity with the topic. And it's nice to "get to know" the voices behind the reporting... You can only trust an organization like The Pillar if you trust the people who run it, and I bet the podcast does more than you know to build public trust in your perspectives. Trust is built not *despite* your personal feelings coming through, but *because* those feelings are obviously rooted in real faith, courage, prudence, and a clear-sighted, experiential understanding of the failures and the beauty of the Church (regardless of temperamental differences between peppy JD and gloomy Ed). The podcast matters--keep it up and take my money.

I used to travel to McAllen for work semi regularly and would make a pit stop at the basilica if I had time. The outdoor path for the stations of the cross is incredible when travelling during the midwestern winters.
