Sometimes I think we make LGBTQ issues too much of a thing when the issues aren’t that different from disordered heterosexual issues - divorce and remarriage, sex outside marriage, contraception, sterilization, etc. On your discussion of how to handle undoing reassignment processes I couldn’t help drawing parallels to expectations of people who have sterilized themselves. The church expects contrition but not undoing the process. Furthermore people cannot be initiated if they’re in an irregular marriage and aren’t willing to live differently. Why would not allowing active LGBTQ individuals baptism etc be any different? I think we need to do a better job of articulating the principles that apply to all people regardless of orientation.
I think this is an excellent point, Pat. People can be intimidated by the "newness" of these issues, and there are those who take advantage of that to promote confusion where there really shouldn't be much, if any. I appreciate the Marquette diocese offering such a clear document and recommend that people take a look at the whole thing. I'd also love to hear more about the canonical issues if JD and Ed have time to explore those further.
I will be honest... I wouldn't read the book. Sorry JD... or Ed.... But I do read all the reporting and appreciate the sunlight you've shown on it ever since you were working at the Employer Who's Treated Nameless.
I'd absolutely buy and read Ed's book
I'd read Ed's book. I'd probably buy it for a few people too.
I would aboslutely buy and read Ed's book!!
P.s.: I would actually buy more than one...
I'm not one of the three persons necessary to trigger writing & publication, but I'd purchase & read Ed.'s book.
I'm glad Ed chose the right ham in greater or lesser; anything besides ibérico and I would have had to reconsider my subscription.

I happen to know that someone with solid connections to Cdl. Pell is an avid listener, if not a subscriber. It’s not out of the question…
I'd buy Ed's book, maybe even show up for a signing!
