I preferred the old Sunday School. As a TLM attendee, I don't really get anything out of this... Hope you'll consider doing another Book of the Bible soon. There's a million "weekly Mass readings" podcasts and blogs, but I was getting a lot out of the deep dive you did previously.
Case in point, the background on Philippi being a retirement colony for Roman soldiers: that was awesome context. The good professor probably has tons of gems like that in his knowledge.
Why does the Church chop up certain biblical texts in the Mass readings? Like the second reading from yesterday’s Solemnity, from Ephesians.
I remember in the Romans season Dr Scott mentioned that the entire letter might be read at one liturgy. (I don’t think I’m advocating for a return to THAT much reading in one Mass. 🙂)
