I'm deeply amused that when Ed is talking about the Eucharist as harming those in sin, he reaches for the catechism and the code of canon law instead of the Scriptures.

We all have our 'bibles' as it were.

It is kind of sweet that the pop culture knowledge and knowledge gaps of JD and Ed compliment each other so well. It is much more fun than if one was completely knowledgeable and one was completely sheltered.

Has anyone else ever pointed out the parallels between JD/Ed and GK Chesterton and Hillaire Belloc? If we take JD as GCK and Ed as HB, we have, of note:

- Writers (all journalists?) writing on the life of the church

- JD goes by his first two initials, GK Chesterton often known by his first two initials.

- JD and Chesterton were both converts later in life (I think?)

- Ed is a curmudgeonly bi-nationalist (England, USA), Belloc was a curmudgeonly bi-nationalist (England, France). (And I mean that in the most loving way possible, Ed, you're my kind of curmudgeon, and please don't change).

Any other parallels?

Also, if GKC and HB were known collectively as the Chesterbelloc, we can come up with a similar name for the Pillar guys... I'm torn between the Flondon and the Condoflyn (Pronounced: Con-DAW-flyn, sort of like "Coughlin" with a "DAW" in the middle).

Thoughts? We're sitting on gold here, folks.
