What do they mean when they say the criminal proceeding "may provide guidance" regarding guilt or innocence according to canon law? Guidance to whom? Do the judges running the trial not actually have the authority to issue a verdict?
Does anyone know why the text of some articles like this one is justified instead of left-aligned? I find it much harder to read that way and don't see any helpful settings on Substack apart from font size
The patient approach wins yet again. I wish more in the media would focus on obtaining the "best coverage" than the "fastest coverage." The news will eventually get out in time.
Well but I do wonder if there was method in the initial reports ... to make sure the Vatican remembers we are waiting and watching. Better they manage the resulting verdict well from the start than have to play catch up later, as Pope Francis had to do earlier with the belated decision to remove the statute of limitations. I'm not defending it as a strategy, because it's not an honest one, but it probably wouldn't be the first time someone did that
Still a priest, is he? All this time the young Sisters he physically and spiritually abused suffer still. No sense of urgency at the Vatican. Pls let there be justice.l
I very much appreciate the detailed candor of the Vatican Press Office. While one cannot respond to every excretion of the online rumor mill, this case seems to be judged sufficiently serious by the Vatican to set the record straight.
