I’m thinking this means that the default interpretive lens through which we are expected to view any papal statement regarding Ukraine/Russia is “this is a pastor talking” and not “this is a sovereign head of state talking”?

What is the pope supposed to be first? A pastor or the sovereign of a

nation? One can argue that as pastor he is to be in the image of Christ, while the other is of the world and not only not unnecessary but also detrimental to his being a shepherd.

Can you help me? I could not tell if the following statement was outside the scope of remarks that were "not as a political stance":

Holy Father, too little, to late. Your games with peoples lives in China, Ukraine and Nicaragua are sure signs of abandonment and weakness. Your “diplomacy” is killing people who are dying feeling forsaken by the Church. I feel very sorry for you and am sorry too that you were elected.
